Msr. Gladys Grimes, 74, 805 E. Jefferson St., died Wednesday afternoon in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Women's Relief Corps, Rebekah Lodge 13, Pythian Sisters and Royal Neighbors.

She was educated in the Jamestown schools.

She was born in Boone County Oct. 12, 1897, a daughter of Everett and Effie Long Gossett. She first married Samuel Guy Thompson on Dec. 24, 1914. He died in June 1947. She married Orville Grimes in 1955. He survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Wayne, Milford and Sam Thompson, all of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Easton of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; five stepsons, Charles Grimes of Crawfordsville, Herman Grimes of Cillicott City, Md., Ralph Grimes of Jacksonville, Fla., James Grimes of Lafayette and Donald Grimes of Japan; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mildred Dale of Darlington and Mrs. Troy Baker of Crawfordsville; her mother, Mrs. Everrett Gossett of Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Malcolm, and a sister.

Services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Saturday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with Rev. Howard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Jamestown IOOF [Independent Order of Odd Fellows] Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p. m. Friday.
